[Backstory] Nikora appears to be a woman from outside the Archipelago, her clothing leaning towards a more foreign origin. Yet, she is very much the opposite, when one considers her own family lineage. It can be traced back to the ancient days of the Barbarian Archipelago, after the first Vikings came to the islands of which her own family was part of. In fact, her family was one of the heads of the Archipelago upon arrival, considered Norse Royalty of sorts as her family's banner was proudly emblazoned on ships, villages, and a once sprawling temple on what would later become Auction Island.
As unfortunately and cliche as it might sound, Nikora's ancestors ruled with an iron fist, coming off as tyrannical and selfish in their dealings, albeit helping to set the stage for the Barbaric Archipelagos future. However, the tribes that were part of their empire soon began to grow wary and impatient, feeling Stormheart's ancestors cared nothing beyond their own means. Eventually, a rebellion ensued, eliminating their followers and part of the royal family while a few others managed to sneak away in the chaos. After this, what remained of her family returned to the mainlands, where they struggled to thrive for many generations to follow. Thus comes to Nikora's time, the last (known) descendant of a once great powerful lineage.
Nikora grew up in a poverty, crime-ridden area of a port near Norway. She lost her mother shortly after her birth and her father has worked all his life as a fisherman and deck hand, but not earning much since the loss of her mother. Her father was always a loving man, ever doting on his daughter but could not always be there to raise her in the way he wanted. Instead, Nikora found herself being raised on the streets and thriving here, learning the tricks of the trade to steal, defend herself, and underhanded ways. In a sense, she started as nothing better than a street urchin who would join in a small gang with other ship and fishermen kids, especially a young man by the name of Vargulfr who became her closest friend and ally, even an adoptive brother of sorts.
This was primarily for the sake of protection and growth, all of the kids close knit and looking out for one another except for the occasional squabbles of leadership. As Nikora grew older, she began joining in on the more daring adventures with her friends who often made trips outside the village into the wilderness nearby which was likewise often the location of many wild dragons often caught in this side of the world. When she was ten during one of the expeditions, the small group of older kids came across a unique looking Triple Stryke, albeit highly aggressive and territorial, causing them to not stay long except Nikora herself, lingering to observe the dragon with awe.
By the time she was reaching her teen years, the group dynamics began to change as a whole new group opened illegal and legal opportunities to the village: piracy. Despite being a female, Nikora jumped at this opportunity to join a small crew much to the protest of her father. Using the methods she had developed on the streets, Nikora more than proved herself adept at handling pillaging, raids, and persuasion with the ships they targeted. Her own skills of subtle underhandedness, lying, and manipulation allowed Nikora to earn the trust of her superiors, working her way up the ranks as a first mate to the captain by the time she was 19. But she was never alone in her escapades, always having Vargulfr at her her side and vice versa, both rising in the ranks until Nikora confided in her friend and brother of her plans to take over.
Once the plans were set, Nikora left the ship with Varg when they made port again, seeking out the triple stryke she had been observing for years. With his aid along with some trappers, they managed to capture the mighty dragon, managing to drag it back to the Tempest under the guise of eventually training the dragon in favor of the crew. And for a time, she was able to disguise her true motives for the next year as she slowly broke the will of the proud dragon, making it loyal solely to her and Varg, ensuring she appeared to be treating it in a kinder manner than the rest of the crew until at 20, Nikora unleashed Eitr on the captain and his inner circle, having them slain in their sleep and causing a ruckus on the ship. Taking her chance within the chaos, Nikora held the audience of what remained of the crew, Eitr standing loyally and menacingly behind her as she made it clear for a chance in hierarchy, eliminating those who refused to follow her, especially with her status as a woman at the time due to superstitions.
From there, the next four years was spent of Nikora rebranding the Tempest in the name of the Stormheart family, reshaping their image and expanding on their goals. Molding a name for herself with a hand picked crew and Varg and Eitr at her side, she has recently turned her attention towards the Barbarian Archipelago with the sole intention of reclaiming what is hers.
[Name] Eitr [Class] Strike Class [Species] Triple Stryke
[Temperment] Eitr is a proud yet vicious sort of dragon. He is quite regal, prideful, and considers himself the best of the best among dragons. He has lived a long life through rough experience, earning several scars along the way and wisdom to be suspicious and careful when he meets new individuals or dragons. But, he can be rather territorial, harsh, and short tempered, quickly going from being somewhat docile to ferocious at the drop of a hat, especially when challenged or insulted. However, once he gets close to or trusts someone deeply, he becomes deeply loyal and protective, willing to go to whatever lengths he can to protect or serve them. In this case, his strong will has come to serve Nikora, manipulated into believing she saved him from the worst of the human crew and is now deeply obedient to her.
