Together we Map the World is a canon and OC forum that takes place directly after the first film left off, behaving as if the series and second film after never happened. With a wealth of locations, dragons, and characters to choose from, the possibilities are endless. What the tides of storytelling will do with these building blocks is up to you. How far will you go?
An hour before the sunrise, the town of Berk was already radiating with light.
Missy stood in front of the burning building, a huge, innocent smile painting her face. The wreckage in front of her was formerly the home of a fisherman who was currently out at sea. He wouldn't miss it, at least for another few days, at least. In the meantime, the logs flickered beautifully in the cold morning air.
The little girl had already been awake hours before. She'd gotten up a little too early and couldn't fall back asleep, and she was feeling bored. One building didn't hurt, right? It wasn't like Berk was getting leveled every other week by dragons now, so surely the village could deal with one destroyed hut every once and a while.
Naturally, the damage didn't stay unnoticed for too long. A Monstrous Nightmare that'd been roosting nearby was already clambering down to investigate. Missy scooted off to the side, pressing her back up against another house.
The dragon edged closer and landed on the building's skeleton with a thud. The charred log groaned, bowed, and then snapped with an explosion of sparks. Missy flinched, but grinned wider. That noise was sure to wake the rest of the village, she figured, and so she turned to dart away, only to almost run into a few concerned villagers who'd come out to investigate.
"People may not be books but they're easy to read."
Serana normally woke early to take care of the dragons in the stalls. They might not be hers but that doesn't mean she couldn't forge some sort of bond with them. The practice was good, after all, she would soon be in use of the title she came after. She was surprised Berk didn't already have a breeder until she found out that they had only just become dragon friendly. The dark-haired woman had spent the early hours writing details of the dragons in her journal, nothing like the book of dragons, it was the traits of the creature that would ensure whether they were breedable or not, and what would be the outcome of cross-breeding. She was excited to find out. She had left the academy and other dragons be, for now, hoping to go home and get something to eat before she continued her work. She hadn't expected a sight like a house on fire to be the main attraction.
She walked over as if nothing was wrong, and then stood before the house and nightmare on top of it with a bored expression, a hand resting on her hip now. Her blue eyes flickered down to a child as she was suddenly run into, nearly stumbling over before she placed her hands on the smaller figure's shoulder's to stop them and steady herself.
"You weren't in that fire, were you?" She asked with a tilted head, huffing as she found her balance. Normally she'd be furious for someone mowing into her in such a way, but a child running from a fire- so she figured-- was a different story.
Missy let out a tiny squeak when Serana grabbed her.
"N-no," she blurted. It would probably be easier to tell half of the truth, right? People would be less mad at her if she told the truth, presuming they ever figured it out. "I was out walking and stopped to look at the fire until the dragon came. I don't want to be near an angry dragon. I think it was thinking that I would be a tasty snack!"
She had to remind herself to jump with fear when the wood let out another complaint, sagging with a huff of sparks. Her eyes flicked off to the side, beckoning her head to look around and keep watching the fire. She wasn't particularly good at keeping her gaze away, but she did manage to steal a few glimpses at the woman's face. She was pretty, very pretty, with eyes that Missy couldn't read. In fact, Missy didn't know her at all. Or, at least, she wasn't a target for pranks, anyway.
