Together we Map the World is a canon and OC forum that takes place directly after the first film left off, behaving as if the series and second film after never happened. With a wealth of locations, dragons, and characters to choose from, the possibilities are endless. What the tides of storytelling will do with these building blocks is up to you. How far will you go?

This goes without saying, but any and all sexualities or gender identities are allowed.
OP characters are heavily frowned upon, it's good to give your characters a good balance of positive and negative traits, everyone has a weakness.
Disabled and/or mentally ill characters are more than welcome, as long as they're not being played off negative stereotypes or as the punchline to a joke.
Natural hair and skin colors please! I'll allow small bits of unnatural color in your characters hair, such as a stripe of blue or something, but keep it believable and to a minimum. Eyes can be whatever color you like though.
However, special eyes, such as weird shaped pupils(that aren't caused by a known deformity), or multi-colored(the exception being heterochromia), are not allowed. If you're unsure, feel free to poke Hiccup about it!
Characters from Berk so far are the only ones who are known to have dragon companions, so in order for your character to have one, they must have spent some sort of time there, however brief or lengthy.
However, you're free to give your character whatever species you'd like within reason, keep in mind the rarity and trainability of the dragon, as well as the age of your rider, a very young character would probably not be seen with something like a Skrill, for example. The exception of this is if you plot it out with someone who plays one of these dragons for your rider to tame it.
There are a few banned species: Night Furies, Bewilderbeasts, Red/Green/etc. Deaths, Foreverwing, and the Screaming Death are all effectively off limits as companions for your riders.
With the exception of the above, you may make your dragon characters any species you'd like, no matter how rare they happen to be.
Dragons may be any color or pattern that you would like, with any eye color.
Face claims can come from any source, though animation and/or video games are preferred. Please keep in mind the setting and the general aesthetic as far as clothing goes, you wouldn't see someone in a polished suit for example. Clothing MUST fit with the setting and tone of the httyd setting, if you need ideas, feel free to pull outfits from games such as: Skyrim(or any other Elder Scrolls game), Dragon Age, and of course the movies and historical sources. As long as it looks like it could feasibly exist in httyd, you're solid!
To a limited degree, I will allow people to adapt characters from other media into a httyd form, but please keep this to one of these types of characters per person. An example of what I mean is my adaptation of Varian, from Tangled: The Series. I have taken him and completely changed his story and look to fit into the universe, this is a good example of what is required for these characters.
