A wing nudged her and she sighed, opening her eyes to look over the beast that had woken her. “Hear something? Anything?” she asked quietly as she pat the large dragon’s nose. He tilted his head, looking to the exit of the tent and shifting himself away to prompt Valka to wake. It was obvious he felt something was off as well. In the distance something was making a ruckus. Valka’s brows furrowed as she began to pick herself up, putting on her armor and taking her spot on the back of her friend, running her hands over his back, “Let’s take us a look then, stay low.” Cloud snorted as he slunk along the ground towards the sound, fairly sure it was a dragon they were dealing with, though it was on the far side of the island, making it hard to determine even to his ears.
Taking to the skies might alert anything nearby, and if the noise culprit were survivors of the hunter ship then she’d want the element of surprise. A territorial dragon also wouldn’t be ideal, though as the closer the pair drew, the more it sounded like a lone dragon in distress. Cloudjumper picked up the pace, sharing a determined expression with his rider as they finally recognized the call as one for help. Finally they found the dragon. Valka gasped at the sight of such a large and vibrant howl, as well as the fact the poor thing was caught up in a trap much too small. Getting her down would be tricky, by the looks of it the damn thing wasn’t even rope… She slid off of her dragon and slowly removed her helmet as she approached, setting staff, shield, and helmet down to appear as non-threatening as possible. Cloudjumper simply watched, staying back and viewing the makings of the trap.
“I’ll get you down love,” Her voice was just above a whisper as she offered a smile, not yet touching the Woolly Howl. Petting it wasn’t a first priority given the circumstance. She looked tired, how long had she been hanging there? And why was a Woolly Howl this far from the snow? Her eyes went up at what the trap was connected to, a steel beam… She viewed the trigger mechanism, following the wiering until she found something she could cut through, and guestured Cloudjumper over, who easily cut a small bit of rope that held the mechanism together, making the beam lose its hold on the rope- the dragon dropped, and trap; opened.
The viking remained where she was incase this wild dragon didn’t feel like being happy about the rescue.
